Who we are
Lee Smith
FOUNDER, MANAGING DIRECTOR
Lee Smith has a BCom from Otago University and is a renowned security specialist who currently serves as the Director of WD Security, one of the leading security companies in New Zealand. With over 30 years of experience in the security industry and 12 years as a military CQB instructor, Lee has acquired a wealth of knowledge and expertise in security delivery and management. Lee is experienced in martial arts and is the former NZ heavy weight Vale Tudo (MMA) retired champion.
Lee leads a team of security professionals and is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive security strategies to protect clients' assets, infrastructure, and personnel. He also ensures that WD Security complies with industry regulations and standards by conducting regular security risk assessments and audits.
Lee Smith is well-regarded for his innovative approach to security management and ability to identify and address security threats before they become significant problems. His business, security and military training background has set the groundwork for delivering advanced security practices.
Our team
Our network of speciality security professionals has been carefully selected, trained, licensed, and police vetted to provide our clients with the best service. Our team understands how to identify suspicious behaviour, resolve immediate threats and effectively communicate with their colleagues and law enforcement as required. Our people are experienced in conflict management, de-escalation, dealing with vagrants, and crowd control.

Our K9 team
Some of our most valued team members are of the K9 variety. WD Security K9s and their handlers are trained to the highest standards and offer a next-level presence if deemed appropriate for the need.
The presence of a K9 can be a very effective deterrent against criminal activity. The dogs are highly trained in screening areas for the presence of people and indicating when someone has been located.
